13th SLC ;my thoughts and feelings

dear teachers and fellow councillors,
i would like to thank the school for this once in a lifetime opportunity. i thoroughly enjoyed myself.
during the 4 days i spent there, i saw how our facilitators worked and made this camp a huge success. i was also able to interact with students from other schools andeven had the chance to interact with students from both Australia and Hong Kong.
the qualities i saw in them were:
  1. team work
  2. co - operation
  3. gave lots of encouragement when the team was down
  4. made sure we had fun
  5. caring
  6. concerned
  7. sporting
  8. active

they were also very patient and guided us on the right path. we learnt how to draw action plans which we can use for presenting or proposing proposals and ideas. i really learnt a lot and i hope that the council will be more united and co - operative so that things can be carried out swiftly and smoothly.

this experience has taught me many things. i made many friends and have many fond memories of this camp.

our cheer,

SLC Experience

Hi Mr Lim & School

Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to learn so much from and work with student leaders of such a reknown school. It was definitely great joy and pleasure to attend the 13 SLC at Hwa Chong.

First of all, the organizing team , i would say, has done a wonderful job in putting in all a fun learning experience for us, the local students as well as the foreign students. From this 13 SLC, many different student leaders from different learning styles have come together to brainstorm on pressing issues that affects our society.

My consortium worked on the management of pollution. We had an action paper done up, as to how we, as youth leaders, can make a difference by encouraging, motivating the others to go green. The SLC President has also encouraged us to apply some of the feasible ideas in our daily life and to work out these ideas in school.

The success of the whole convention and how it was smoothly carried out all goes to the in depth planning by the SLC team. It can be seen that teamwork, good planning and understanding is required in organizing an event. So, I believe we had picked up some rather important skills that goes into requirements of hosting an event.

The third thing noticed was how the Hwa Chongrians hold pride in their school. They have a strong sense of belonging, and show respect to their school. Our students must feel that way too, and once it is achieved, they will not get themselves and the school into unnecessary trouble.

I believe that when we as the school Student Councillors, can love our school ourselves, we'll then be able to influence the others. So, I'll love the school, just like I'd always been. I will influence the rest and create a wave, hoping that soon, it will result in Pei Hwa Secondary School's success as we go along.

Cheers,
Gena
